WAIKIKI where you gotta be
Words & Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
Well, I can’t say just what it was, or even how or when it happened
But in the grind of my day to day, I noticed, I’d all but stopped smiling and laughin
I’d all but stopped living, just trying to make it through another day
When I heard the choir singing “Lord! — there’s gotta be a better way”
So, I packed my bags, said my goodbyes, and I headed out the door
Like an ancient way-finder I set my sights on a far and distant shore
Somewhere beyond the madness, where those clouds are far behind me
Where skies are blue and dreams come true, oh now Lord, that’s where you’ll find me
Set my sights on a new horizon
Headed out in search of a dream
Now here I am, with my feet in the sand
Watching the sun set, in Waikiki!
Well, I’d no more than landed, when a local boy came up to me
He said, “what’s your hurri — braddah?” “where you gotta be?”
I said, I need to find my way to a sunny beach, warm sand, and a cool breeze
He kinda cocked his head, said “you for real?!” “braddah — we’re surrounded by da sea”
Set my sights on a new horizon
Headed-out in search of a dream
Now here I am, with my feet in the sand
Watching the sun set, in Waikiki!
I set my sights on a BLUE horizon
And found just “Where I Gotta Be”
Now here I am, with my feet in the sand
Watching the sun set, in Waikiki!
I Never Stopped Wondering
Words & Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
Star light, Star bright
First star I see tonight
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have the dream I dream tonight
Days come and Days go
Where they come from, I don’t know
Where they go to, I cannot say
But I thank the lord for each new day
This old man staring out into the sky
Wishing on the night’s first star
In all the days that became my life
I never stopped wondering where you are
And if you ever think of me, wishing on a star
Dreams come, Dreams go
Where they go to, I don’t know
So, I pray with each new day
That my dreams of you will never slip away
This old man staring out into the sky
Wishing on the night’s first star
In all the days that became my life
I never stopped wondering where you are
And if you ever think of me, wishing on a star
Wishing on a star Wondering where you are
Wishing on a star Wondering where you are
A Little Piece Of Heaven
Words & Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
Well, there’s not much more to this old world – Than what we keep inside
The road is long, time marches on – And, things get left behind
But everything that we hold most dear – We carry deep within our hearts
For it’s memories, of moments once shared – That make us who we are
I remember when the snows came early – The winter winds would blow
And we’d bundle up, and gather together – Around an old black stove
And mom would cook whatever she could – With what she had on hand
While dad would warm his cold bones – From a long day of working the land
And every time a cold wind blows, I think of home
Where the mountains soar into a “Big Sky”
Where the rivers run wild and the eagles fly
There’s only one place that I ever called home
A little piece of heaven Down an old Montana Road
As a young child, always wanting more – I never understood
That having less and working hard – Was what made life so good
We didn’t have all the store-bought things – That other people had
But the land was rich, and the land was giving – And it always kept us fed
When the sun was up there was work to be done – But I just wasn’t big enough
So, I ride beside my grandpa – In his old yellow truck
And every now and then, I’d kick it out of gear – Just to hear my grandpa laugh
Oh, the memories that we hold most dear – Are the only things that last
And every time a cold wind blows, I think of home
Where the mountains soar into a “Big Sky”
Where the rivers run wild and the eagles fly
There’s only one place that I ever called home
A little piece of heaven Down an old Montana Road
Life is like that old road, so full of twists and turns
Oh, it leads you on, but then brings you back home by-way of the lessons you’ve learned
For, there’ll be times in life when you lose your way and feel you can’t go on
Like that cold November day when they told me my grandpa was gone
Now my grandpa lived his whole life – In a place few will ever see
A little piece of heaven, down an old dirt road – That sits beside a stream
And how I wish oh Lord, I could tell that man – Who was so good to me
That I can still remember his kind hands – When he’d put me on his knee
And every time a cold wind blows, I think of home
Where the mountains soar into a “Big Sky”
Where the rivers run wild and the eagles fly
There’s only one place that I ever called home
A little piece of heaven Down an old Montana Road
A little piece of heaven Down an old Montana Road
A little piece of heaven Down an old Montana Road
Hawaiian Time
Words & Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
There’s no reason to worry
No need, to be in a hurry
Everything is gonna be just fine
On this island we’re smilin
Caus we’re livin Hawaiian Time
Earlier morning’s a breakin
Sometimes the ground a be shakin
Big island lets me know she’s alive
Outside the roosters are crowin
The dawn patrol is up and goin
Wakin to a new day in Paradise
There’s no reason to worry
No need, to be in a hurry
Everything is gonna be just fine
On this island we’re smilin
Caus we’re livin Hawaiian Time
Midday and I’m still crawlin
but I can hear the ocean callin
Telling me the swells are mounting high
Northshore big waves are rollin
They tell me, Eddie would be goin
Looking for a mountain that he can ride!
Evenin breeze is a blowin
And the embers in the fire are glowin
Ringing bell says, Ulua on the line
This day might soon be ending
But, tomorrow brings a new beginning
Living life beneath a big blue sky
There’s no reason to worry
No need, to be in a hurry
Everything is gonna be just fine
On this island we’re smilin
Caus we’re livin Hawaiian Time
I Chose To Believe
Words & Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
I thought I found my way to heaven
Thought I’d found my way back home
But when I reached the top of that mountain
All I found was I was alone
How that makes you feel like cryin
When your heart’s been broke in two
When you find the one, you spent your whole life dreaming of
She wasn’t dreaming of you
They say tomorrow is another day
And the pain will surely pass
And with time those memories will fade away
And, I’ll be free at last
But I spent a lifetime loving you
And that won’t ever change
For as long as I am living, girl
I know I’m gonna feel this way
So desperate to believe
I lost sight of the truth
Trusting my heart would someday, lead me back to you
Knowing deep down inside, it might just be a dream
I chose to follow my heart
I chose to believe
I tell myself, if I can just hold on
Maybe someday you’ll come to me
And, I’ll hold you in my arms so tight
Just like in my dreams
And we’ll go on and on forever
Like the endless skies above
Forever together
Forever in love
So desperate to believe
I lost sight of the truth
Trusting my heart would someday, lead me back to you
Knowing deep down inside, it might just be a dream
Still, I chose to follow my heart
I chose to believe
Chose to believe
I chose
I chose to believe
Someday you’ll come to me
And we’ll go on and on forever
Like the endless skies, endless skies above
I chose to believe
Someday you’ll come to me
Beyond Now and Never
Words and Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
I heard your laughter in the distance
Saw you smile from across the room
And when you spoke, I had to stop and listen
And I found myself staring into your eyes of blue
There are no words that could give reason
To what I felt That one moment That one day
But I’ve spent a lifetime dreaming
Of what might have been if only I’d found the words to say
For as long as my heart beats
I’ll be searching for you in my dreams
Beyond now and never I will search forever
If that’s how it has to be
It was as if the world stopped turning
As if gravity had set me free
For in your eyes, I know that I saw heaven
And when you smiled, I found it impossible to breathe
For as long as my heart beats
I’ll be searching for you in my dreams
Beyond now and never I will search forever
If that’s how it has to be
How was I to know you’d slip away
Before I could tell you, what was in my heart
Now all I can do is, is dream of you
Searching endlessly in the dark
For as long as my heart beats
I’ll be searching for you in my dreams
Beyond now and never I will search forever
If that’s how it has to be
Until we are together, I will search forever
If that’s how it has to be
I Dream
Words & Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
In the darkness of the night
I dream I dream
If only I could turn back time
I dream I dream
Maybe then I could set things right
I dream I dream
Have you forever in my life
I dream I dream
Until the light of day finds me
I will dream Lord, I will dream
Of a world that only I can see
Still, I dream Oh, I dream
Beneath the stars that fill the night
I am free I am free
To travel on their distant light
I am free I am free
Back to time when life was right
And I was free So free
And you there by my side
And I was free So free
Until the light of day finds me
I am free Lord, I am free
In a world that only I can see
I am free I am Free
Across all space and time
A shadow cast upon my life
A moment never to be mine
Still, I believe,
Someday you’ll wake me from this dream
Until the light of day finds me
I will dream oh, I’ll dream
Until you come and set me free
From a world that only I can see
I dream you’ll set me free
From this world
From this dream
Nothing To Nothing
Words & Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
I often find myself on the edge — waiting to be received
Incense and white candles burning out — who am I to believe?
Their voices sounding so distant now — their message so unclear
Everything I ever wanted, somehow — has become everything I fear
From nothing to nothing — into this world I was thrown
From nothing to nothing — from this life I am torn
Nothing to Nothing — what will become of me
Ashes to Ashes — To Be or Not to BE
I am forever bound in disbelief — to a truth I cannot see
Forever falling from light to dark — the answer’s out of reach
The burden of a soliloquy — “to be or not to be”
Alone I shuffle off this mortal coil — to face an eternity
From nothing to nothing — into this world I was thrown
From nothing to nothing — from this life I am torn
Nothing to Nothing — what will become of me
Ashes to Ashes — To Be or Not to BE
With every breath that I breathe — I thank God I came to be
But as this world turns endlessly — I ask oh lord what will become of me………
When I cease to be — Yeah!
From nothing to nothing — into this world I was thrown
From nothing to nothing — from this life I am torn
Nothing to Nothing — what will become of me
Ashes to Ashes — To Be or Not to BE
Leading Me On
Words & Music written by Kenneth G. Masden II
Leading me on Leading me on
Leading me on, through a lifetime
Taking me down another road
I never knew where life would lead me
I only knew I had to go
With a pounding in my heart, and a yearning in my soul
Leading me on Leading me on
Standing in the shadows — I could hear the Angels sing
As their voices fill the night — something stirred inside of me
With ten thousand watts of power — sounding out the Angel’s song
I could see the stars before me — as the lights began to call
Follow your heart follow your dream
The light is your life your destiny
Leading me on, through a lifetime
Taking me down another road
I never knew where life would lead me
I only knew I had to go
With a pounding in my heart, and a yearning in my soul
Leading me on Leading me on
Follow your heart follow your dream
The light is your life your destiny
Leading me on, through a lifetime
Taking me down another road
I never knew where the life would lead me
I only knew I had to go
With a pounding in my heart, and a yearning in my soul
Leading me on Leading me on
Overcome by the darkness — from the mountain I was thrown
I awoke on a new path — headed down another road
Til one day there came an Angel — who said he remembered me
You’re the young man in the shadows — who saw the light and dared to dream
Follow your heart follow your dream
The light is your life your destiny
Leading me on, through a lifetime
Taking me down another road
I never knew where the light would lead me
I only knew I had to go
Leading me on Leading me on
Leading me on Leading me on
Leading me on Leading me on
Leading me on Leading me on
Leading me on Leading me on
Leading me on Leading me on
